Mytropolis Art Installation:

PHYSICAL DISCRIPTION
Mytropolis is a multi dimensional sculpture garden made from reclaimed or recycled wood.  Based on a circular city (BRC) Mytropolis has a 60’ radius. In the center is an 11’ tall arch. On one side is a stairway leading to a top platform 8’ square in the center of the platform will be a pole holding a highly polished mirror bowl creating part of the overall look, like a fish eye view of a very small world.  Mytropolis will be divided into general height zone street blocks.  The buildings shall be no taller than 8’-6’ Red zone 6’-3’ Yellow zone 4’-1’ Green zone.  Mytropolis will be bisected by one major road leading to “the man.”  The whole project space will be surrounded with LED lights.

THE HARD RULES
When you have decided to create a building for Mytropolis your building will have to conform to 3 standards.

1. NON MOOPABLE.  This is the most important rule to consider.  Black Rock City is a harsh environment.
   LEAVING NO TRACE IS THE PRIORITY! 
2. FREESTADING /SPIKEABLE.  All buildings will be modified to make this work should the need arise. 
   Consider the effects of harsh wind on the playa
3. BURNABLE NON-TOXIC MATERIALS.  THIS INSTALLATION IS GOING TO BURN ON SATURDAY NIGHT.
   Kindly keep non-burnable items to a minimum. All non-burnables will be consumed by Mytropolis project.

THINKING INSIDE THE BOX
Mytropolis is asking participants coming to Burning man to bring a “box” decorated to look like your idea of a building.  On any given day in cities around the world people are throwing away materials like dresser drawers.  Mytropolis does not want you to spend any money, but use the abundant wood that gets tossed out in any sort of building project, production, or city living.  The world can be what we make it if it’s mini. Bring a box to Burning Man that you will not take back your very own shrine, will it be a temple or a tenement.  What the Mytropolis project needs is a plethora of buildings, the key to the look is the volume. No participant of Mytropolis needs to do anything more or less than they are willing to do for the project, however Mytropolis implores you do something. 

THINKING OUTSIDE THE BOX
Mytropolis is not only looking for boxes, Mytropolis is looking for what any one is willing to create!  If you want to build a bridge or just a flat board silhouette of a building it is welcome.  The key is simplicity.  Black Rock City is a hostile environment that is difficult to get to with all your stuff, consider this in any plans. 

MyTropolis THEME CAMP
The Mytropolis project will have a theme camp lounge and drop off / inspection point for buildings brought by willing participants.  The lounge will be open until Wednesday evening.  All buildings must be vetted through the camp.  We are a loose collection of LA artists, enthusiasts, and slackers.  Welcome to MyTropolis!  Help make it happen.

DESTRUCTION
All day Saturday will be performance of Monsters vs. the City.  All BRC monsters are invited to rampage through appropriate blocks of Mytropolis.  The destroyed buildings will be put inside the arch to burn.  All MOOP will be collected before during and after.
